Even as a child I’ve been fascinated with the Olympics. I was a competitive swimmer growing up and had dreams of competing one day in the Olympics. Life certainly had different plans though! So when the Olympics come around every two years, I watch as the world watches and the best athletes compete.
Last night as I watched the flame extinguished, I was inspired and also sad to see the Games end. What an incredible two weeks and not just in medal counts but the stories of courage and triumph that always surround the Olympics. Stories I can’t wait to share with my young son as well.
Seeing the coverage of the Olympics also reminds me so fondly of our trips to the Vancouver area in route to our Alaska adventures! The region shined as bright as the Olympic flame. I cannot wait to return to the area and explore new adventures with our son in the future.
British Columbia has much to offer as shown on the TV but so many hidden treasures as well. Whale watching, kayaking, excellent skiing, a stunning coastline and the gateway to outstanding cruises to the Alaska. are a few. Too many great things to list.
I was so proud to watch the athletes from around the world do their best and the world unite if only for a few short weeks. Thanks Canada for such a wonderful experience and congratulations to all of the athletes for a job well done! Just two years until the summer Olympics are here and I can’t wait!
